easter poem

we set out that day at six am
too early for anything
except the cheap chocolate rabbits
bought the night before

the car smelled like a poor catholic child's easter
i could feel the aluminum wrappers on my teeth
every time I heard somebody opening a new one

i should have gotten the peeps

we arrived some time later
brushed my teeth twelve times
but could still taste the chocolate

a girl i have not seen since high school
her mouth tastes like jelly beans
she's reaching between my legs
trying to find herself

it's six am again

i should have just gone to sleep
